I often hear people say they want to develop their intuition.

You have taken classes, searched for answers, questioned whether you can trust what you feel, or wondered if you have lost your intuition altogether.

But what if you approached intuition from a different angle?

What if, instead of focusing only on how to find your way back to intuition as an adult, you also considered how you could help future generations never lose their connection to it in the first place?

Intuition Is Your First Sense

"I believe intuition is not the sixth sense, it is your First Sense. It is your connection to Source that is always available to you. Like a silver cord woven through every thought, feeling, action, and experience, it remains with you throughout your life."

You may lose or experience changes in your physical senses, such as sight, hearing, or touch, but your First Sense remains.

The question is whether you continue to recognize, trust, and use it.

Like a muscle, your intuition becomes stronger when you engage with it. This makes me wonder what could change if we began helping children recognize and strengthen their intuitive abilities from the very beginning.

Could Intuition Be Strengthened Through Generations?

Throughout history and across cultures, there have been people who have developed extraordinary levels of intuitive awareness.

This raises an interesting question:

Could strengthening your own intuition also influence the generations that come after you?

I strongly believe the answer is YES! Intuition, just like exceptional physical abilities or intelligence, is passed on through family beliefs, patterns, learned behaviors, and generational lineage.

However, today you are surrounded by endless external information from experts, organizations, opinions, and advice constantly telling you what you should do and how you should live. Much of this information may be well-intentioned, but often it is not personal. It is general, based on other people's experiences and expertise.

You are hardly ever reminded that the most personal guidance available to you comes from within. The ultimate Compass and GPS technology is already built within you.

Helping children maintain that understanding and connection to their internal divine wiring system may give them something increasingly valuable: the ability to listen inwardly while navigating an increasingly noisy world.

Perhaps nurturing intuition is not about teaching children something new. Perhaps it is about protecting something they already possess. Their First Sense is already present. Our role is simply to create an environment where it can continue to grow naturally instead of slowly being forgotten.

Pay Attention to How Children Respond to the World

Children begin communicating long before they have words. They already become aware of their surroundings in utero. Their senses are developing so that when a baby is born, it knows who its mother is without seeing her or touching her. It simply knows.

A baby crying is not simply being fussy; sound is one of their first forms of communication. Facial expressions, sounds, movements, and changes in behavior are all ways children communicate long before they have words.

When you slow down and truly pay attention, you begin to notice how children respond to different people, places, and environments. They are constantly relating to the world around them, forming relationships with their surroundings through their own unique perceptions. These responses arise from their inner feelings - signals coming from somewhere deep within. By observing them with curiosity rather than judgment, you begin to witness the quiet language of their First Sense.

How do they respond when they are alone with you?

What changes when a visitor enters the room?

How do they behave in nature compared to a busy grocery store?

Children may be sensing and processing far more than you realize.

We can learn from our children. Instead of immediately dismissing or correcting their reactions, become curious about what they may be experiencing.

Every observation is an opportunity to witness a child's First Sense in action. The more we pay attention without judgment, the more we begin to recognize that intuition often speaks long before words ever can.

Let Them Explore With All of Their Senses

When children grow, they naturally want to explore and learn through their senses.

They touch things. They listen. They smell. Sometimes, much to your frustration, they want to taste everything!

This kind of active exploration is how they gather real-time information about the world around them.

Experiences with the living world are especially valuable. Nature offers children the opportunity to interact with something dynamic and responsive.

By letting them touch the earth, they learn about the different elements.

When they listen to birds, they gain a real-time understanding of what a bird is, what it looks like, and learn that birds communicate.

Let them feel the wind, the sun, or the rain on their skin as they learn that this is one way to experience the changing temperatures of the seasons.

Allow them to watch insects and explore plants. Stop with them to smell the roses and admire the butterflies.

Experience the ocean, a river, creek, or lake, and get wet!

These experiences invite curiosity, awareness, and wonder while allowing children to develop a deeper relationship with the world around them.

Every one of these experiences strengthens a child's First Sense - not by teaching them what to think, but by allowing them to experience Living Life directly. Before knowledge becomes information, it begins as experience. And experience is one of the greatest teachers of intuition.

Encourage Relationships With Living Things

Living Life offers children meaningful opportunities to strengthen awareness, deepen their connection through feelings, and awaken compassion. Animals provide something that no electronic gadget, noisy toy, or lifeless object can truly offer. Unlike toys that simply entertain, living beings respond, communicate, and invite relationship. This living feedback nurtures a child's natural evolutionary development while helping them become more aware of themselves and the world around them.

If you live on a farm, children may naturally interact with animals every day. But even a fish, dog, cat, rabbit, or other pet can introduce them to the experience of caring for and building a relationship with another living being.

Through these simple yet profound interactions, children begin to understand that every living being responds to kindness, attention, and love, strengthening both their intuition and their sense of connection to life itself.

The First Sense grows through relationship. The more children experience living connections, with animals, plants, people, and nature, the more naturally they recognize that they are part of something much greater than themselves.

Plant Living Life

Plants offer the same wonderful opportunity to engage with Living Life in action.

Just imagine watching a tiny seed grow into a seedling and eventually mature into a plant that produces a tomato. Wouldn't that seem like a miracle to a small child?

Or imagine creating a butterfly garden and witnessing the remarkable transformation of a caterpillar into a butterfly. What an extraordinary way to learn biology before even entering kindergarten! The classroom is full of vibrations and colors.

These experiences inspire wonder - a powerful currency that even Albert Einstein recognized as a high form of intelligence when he said,

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution."

Wonder awakens imagination, and imagination opens the door to discovery. Through active experiences with Living Life, children learn far more than facts - they begin to see the world of unlimited wonder.

Wonder may be one of the purest expressions of the First Sense. It opens the heart, awakens curiosity, and reminds children that life is meant to be experienced before it is analyzed.

Developing Emotional Intelligence in Children

Emotional intelligence is another important layer in supporting a child's intuition. But how do you teach a child to recognize and communicate what they feel?

The truth is, many adults struggle to identify and express their own emotions in a healthy, constructive way. That is why giving children simple tools to recognize and express their feelings is so valuable. These tools help them maintain a strong connection to themselves and to their inner world.

One of my favorite tools is an emotion chart filled with a variety of emojis or facial expressions representing different emotions - happy, sad, surprised, frustrated, excited, worried, calm, and many more.

You can begin by pointing to the face that best represents how you are feeling, then invite the child to share which face expresses how they feel.

An emotion chart with different facial expressions can be a wonderful place to begin.

Ask questions such as:

"How do you feel?"

"Can you show me which face feels like you right now?"

"How do you think Grandma feels?"

"How does your friend feel?"

"How do you feel when you are around this person or in this place?"

Children often sense something long before they have the language to explain it. Helping them connect a feeling with a word builds a bridge between their inner experiences and their ability to understand, communicate, and eventually trust what they are sensing.

As they become more emotionally aware, they also strengthen one of the foundations of intuition.

Emotions are not separate from the First Sense - they are one of its many languages. When children learn to recognize what they feel without judgment, they begin to trust the quiet wisdom that has always lived within them.

Every Emotion Has Something to Teach You

It is also important that you do not teach children that certain emotions are simply "bad."

Anger, sadness, frustration, happiness, excitement, and surprise are all part of the human experience.

Every emotion is something you can learn to recognize and understand.

When children know what an emotion feels like in their bodies, they can begin developing a stronger relationship with themselves.

Instead of disconnecting from uncomfortable feelings, they can learn to notice them, understand them, and eventually recognize that they have the ability to respond to and work with what they feel.

By honoring every emotion rather than fearing it, children learn to trust themselves. That trust becomes another pathway through which their First Sense can continue to guide them throughout life.

Remembering What We Already Know

Throughout this chapter, one simple truth continues to emerge.

Children are not born disconnected from their intuition. They arrive with it.

Every experience in nature, every relationship with a living being, every emotion they learn to recognize, and every moment we choose curiosity over correction either strengthens or weakens that connection.

Perhaps our greatest responsibility is not to teach intuition, but to protect the First Sense that is already quietly guiding them.

Evolving Through Your First Sense

Evolving through your First Sense represents a profound paradigm shift in human development.

Your First Sense is not simply about finding your own way back to intuition - it is about co-creating a world where children are encouraged to remain connected to Source, to all of Living Life, and to navigate life guided by their own inner compass.

Perhaps the next evolution of humanity will not come from developing new technologies, but from remembering our First Sense.

In remembering it, we reclaim our inner sovereignty - our innate ability to discern truth from within, trust our own guidance, and live in harmony with the greater web of life rather than being led solely by the voices of the outside world.

You can nurture this connection by:

  • Giving children opportunities to explore nature.

  • Encouraging relationships with animals and plants.

  • Helping them recognize and express their emotions.

  • Remaining curious about what they sense, feel, and experience.

These simple moments may seem ordinary, yet they become the building blocks of something extraordinary. Every interaction with Living Life, every emotion understood, every question asked with curiosity instead of judgment, strengthens a child's relationship with their First Sense.

Intuition is your connection to Source and to the greater web of life. It has always been there, quietly guiding you from within.

The more you strengthen that connection within yourself and nurture it in the generations that follow, the more naturally you, and they, will move through life guided by your First Sense.

In doing so, you are not simply raising intuitive children; you are helping cultivate sovereign human beings who remember their deepest connection to Source, honor the sacred intelligence within, and live in harmony with all of Living Life.

Perhaps the greatest gift you can offer future generations is not more information, but the remembrance of who they already are.

When children remember who they are, they are less likely to spend a lifetime searching for what was never truly lost. Instead, they grow into adults who trust themselves, honor the wisdom of their own experiences, and navigate life from an inner place of knowing rather than fear.

Perhaps that is the true evolution of humanity - not becoming something more, but remembering what we have always been.

For when we reclaim our inner sovereignty, we remember our First Sense.

Maybe developing your intuition was never the goal. Maybe the real journey is remembering your First Sense - and helping future generations never forget theirs.

With Love and Peace,

Dr. Lenka Schulze
