Trust Your Intuition: Your First Sense

Who do you trust? Do you trust yourself?
These simple questions reveal a lot about your relationship with your very first sense—intuition.
A friend once asked me,“You trust me, right?” My answer was, “Trust you? Well, it depends.” Because trust isn’t one-size-fits-all—it has levels.
I might trust you to keep a secret.
Or to watch my dog or my house.
To hear about my finances or family dynamics.
Trust you with my deepest fears, dreams, or fantasies?
These are just a few examples of levels of trusts.
Trusting Yourself
Now let’s turn the question inward:
Do you call friends for advice on every little decision?
Do you rely more on others’ opinions than on your first impressions?
Do you give more weight to “experts” with degrees than to your own inner knowing?
Do you get stuck second-guessing yourself over simple choices—what to wear, what to eat, which vitamin to take?
If so, it may be time to rebuild trust with yourself.
Trust is the foundation of intuition. We’re hardwired with intuitive signals from the heart before our logical mind jumps in with doubts.
What Science Shows
Research supports this. Dr. Rollin McCraty of the HeartMath Institute found that the heart can sense information up to six seconds before we consciously experience it. That means our heart literally knows before our brain does.
When we honor that inner guidance, we strengthen both our intuition and our physical heart’s ability to communicate with us.
Intuition and Healing
Modern medicine is also beginning to acknowledge intuition’s power. Dr. Kelly A. Turner, Ph.D., studied thousands of cases of “radical remission” in cancer patients. From more than 75 factors, she identified nine key ones that survivors had in common.
The top three were:
Changing diet
Taking control of your health
Following your intuition
Think about that—the third most powerful factor in healing wasn’t chemotherapy, a celebrity healer, or an expensive protocol.
It was intuition!
The Takeaway — Trust Your Intuition
Trust isn’t just about relationships with others. It begins with trusting yourself. Your first sense—your intuition, that is built into your biology, supported by science, and recognized as an important factor in healing.
So, if you want to live more fully, make wiser decisions, and even support your health, the path forward is clear:
Trust your first sense.
With Love and Peace,
